How to Start a Meaningful Airplane Model Collection
However, this does not mean that we cannot become airplane model collectors just because we cannot afford them. It really depends on how we choose to define the word 'collector'. For me, I define a "collector" as one who collects something with PASSION.
Yes, the word is PASSION. Anyone can be a model airplane collector so long as he or she is passionate about model airplanes.
So long as we have the passion about what you collect or build, we are collectors in our own right and the collection hobby need not be an expensive one too. In fact it can also be fun and educational too! So here is one way to start a meaningful airplane model collection:We could start by deciding on a theme and purpose for our collection. A meaningful theme will help to focus our collection effort within a time frame we set for ourselves and having a purpose will also make your collection process a fun and educational one.
For instance, we could define a purpose in this way :
To learn more about famous airplanes and find out why they are included in the historical hall of fame.
We can decide the following themes :
 Famous WWII fighter airplanes |  Famous modern fighter airplanes |  Famous aerobatic airplanes |
Now we can try to focus our collection effort by sourcing affordable airplanes model that falls under the above themes. Then, you may like to go to the library to read more about these airplanes to find out why they are still the world's famous airplanes from history till today. Perhaps you can also make this a school project to present your models and show off your knowledge in class.
Or if you are too shy to do so, you may like to take a photo of your airplane model collection and share it with us here. I have recently created a space to allow airplane model collectors to share their collections on this website. For what you know, your collection may just worth a high price especially if you have inherited them from your parents or grandparents.
